Have you heard about Canada's 30X30 Nature Challenge?
Our class will be participating in this exciting activity during the month of May. You can find details on the David Suzuki Foundation web site http://30x30.davidsuzuki.org or ask your child about the details. We will try to take our learning outside for part of every day. At its heart, the 30x30 Nature Challenge is about getting people of all ages into nature more often. It is a simple and meaningful way to develop a deeper connection with nature while improving our learning, health and well-being. As part of our nature challenge students are invited to bring a towel in a bag that can be kept at school for them to sit on. Other items to bring could include a hat, bug spray, umbrella and sunscreen. You can also make a ‘sit-upon’ in a few minutes using newspaper, plastic bags and sturdy tape (there are many directions online about how to make them). We are very excited to participate in this challenge! Students are also encouraged to take part in the Nature Challenge at home. Keep track of outdoor activities on the Bingo Sheet by recording each 30 minutes spent outside for the month of May. The activities suggested are intended to be open-ended and completed in various ways and in a variety of outdoor settings. You are only limited by your imagination!
